Well i've spoken to support who were useless. They asked me to run Robin Walkers test, the first time I did it, it showed I was running at 1mb speeds (I'm on 2mb broadband), as I explained to him, yesterday everything was fine. He made me reboot into safe mode with networking to run the same test, this time it showed 2mb service, but as I tried to explain, sometimes it is showing 1mb speeds, sometimes its showing 2mb speeds no matter if im in Safe mode or not. I even told him its doing the same on my Mac machine and that its not the computer!

Bit more info for anyone looking into it - if i download something from FTP, for a few seconds ill only get 1/2/3 KB's - then it'll go to the full 200kbs for the rest of the time.

Well for two days it works fine again. This morning its back to the same old problem!

I am sure these problems are due to maintenance, I have always had a perfect service until recently, last Friday during the early hours I lost connection for a few hours but usually it is just a problem accessing sites, again usually in the small hours. When it recovers the service is perfect. Generally the service is perfect during the daytime and evening with any problems appearing after 11.00pm which makes me think that work is being done during the time which will not affect most users. I am in Oldham by the way.

update:
Playing up earlier this morning, unable to access sites, when it recovered the service was going like a rocket, someone is definately twiddling some knobs somewhere along the line.

I'm in Cambridge CB4. Since upgrading to the 1Meg service from 300k several months ago, my speed, when tested, is always around the 720 - 760k mark. So i'm paying for 1Meg but getting a 750k service (which they used to offer). Anyone have any ideas why this might be? because I'm getting pretty ****ed off with it.

You mean the free upgrade that your not paying any extra money for?

surely the fact of the free upgrade is immaterial; he is paying for a service that he is not getting seems to be the point!!
