Hi all,
Im looking for some stuff to put on my walls of my house - now - my walls are big and blank and need something to go on them but i cant for the life of me find somewhere that does large (as is 4m by 4m etc) works.

Does anybody know where i can find some big art?

Well you wouldn't want art that big - never be able to see it.

Ikea does big pictures. Big prices too though.

You could try rasterbating (http://homokaasu.org/rasterbator/) one of your existing pictures if you've got any good ones you want to put on the wall?

Not bad ideas, dont really have a photo i want to use though and that Art place only have pictures of about 1m by 1m so thats no use.

Shame my father died (he would be 102 by now though). I can remember a painting of a reclining lady 10 foot wide by 4 foot high that used to be in our drawing room (and the schoolboys who used to gaze over the wall for a look). Such is life.

However how about this one http://www.kissmyart.com/index2.html you have to decide what style of art you are looking for but they do have large pictures.

Stuff?as in original works of art or just something to make the walls less plain?

I have prints of paintings that I really would love to own, some original art that I've bought and I have lots of beautiful china plates as well. Why does the art work HAVE to be that big.You could get a good effect by juxtaposing several smaller pieces together.

The best way to get big original art is to ask an artist to produce such work for you, however this will cost you a lot.

Can't you put your artistic abilities to work and produce some murals or paintings of your own? ;) Or are you after INSTANT results.

Personally I'd rather take my time and get a collection together that I really like and appreciate. :)

Get some inspiration for your own work here at the bbc (http://www.bbc.co.uk/homes/design/design_inspiration/factsheets/699.shtml)
or do you have any young relatives who are handy with the poster paints, scissors and glue.

Know any toddlers that could do something abstract? Would be worth a fortune in a few years

Actually i probably could come up with something and get it printed onto canvas - but your still looking at around 500 quid for the privilage which is a bit much (judging by the sites i've seen).

As for "stuff" - are you suggesting im some sort of philistiene Incog - well, you would be right, im not up for starting a collection or anything, im just looking to put something big and cool on the wall.

Perhaps you are looking for something along the lines of Stan and Hildas livingroom wall complete with these (http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=4395340956&category=38238&ssPageName=WDVW&rd=1)

ok, this is totally off the wall, er, as it were... ;)

could you, theoretically, cover the wall with monochrome photographic paper, (so you could do it in red-light, rather than darkness), then use a slide projector to project an image for a short time (depending on the paper), then develop it & stick it back up? :dozey:

- where was the cloakroom ? ;)

Hopefully I have found a more cost effective solution for you here (http://www.ewmoore.co.uk/)

Seem to do good sized stuff from around £75.

No I'm not really, but your original post did sort of sound like someone who buys their art by the inch... ;)

As long as you pick something because you like it not because it doesn't clash with the decor colour...You have to live with it for some time if you pay out a lot for it... ;)

we had a ground floor flat, once, in which we had mounted a full mirror at the end of the hallway, we should have sold the footage of people seeing themselves reflected at the end of our hall, with the door open, when they walked past :D

When I get as place with a wall big enough I want one of these (http://shop.nationalgeographic.com/jump.jsp?itemID=347&itemType=PRODUCT&path=1%2C3%2C110%2C136%2C269&KickerID=310&KICKER) on the wall (Matt varnished over).

I suppose you supply your own picture and ask them nicely to make up a wall poster for you.The info about hanging them seems pretty clear.Actually I liked reading the info about the firm..apparently they are a hardware store that does this as a speciality.. :)

Thanks and one more thing - do you know if they would do a custom size?

I will ask when i phone them, but just in case any of you knew.

I'm not sure that they will do a picture you supply, I merely offered it as a suggestion... :) All you can do is ask.It may cost you more IF they will do it.

I'm assuming from looking about that many places will blow up artwork to any size. Then all you need to make it look good is to make a large frame like this (http://www.sue-vesely.co.uk/sw_stretch_00.htm) .

Then you can emulsion the canvas and leave it to dry. When its rock hard then glue on your enlarged artwork and then I would think it would need a varnish over the top to seal it in.

Cost of frame would be £10 max as the fabric is like 30p a metre and the wood is 2" x 1" softwood which any diy place will stock.

Good luck and let us see what u did :-)
