is in my room

Just got in - Was sitting at the comp reading a few fourms when I felt a *****le on my arm, look down and a beast off thing was there... had like a big ass and quite big wings and a little head.. it then took off and flew up into the light.

Cue me flapping my arms around trying to kill it, I then turned the light off and turned the light on in the landing to see if it'd come out and away from my room, but now it's disspeared

Seriousley this beast will eat me if I fall asleep, I have an exam at 9.15 and need to get some sleep but can;t :(

It's a beast honest.

Wuss! :p: :D

That makes 2 then, I had to go to the hospital twice a day to get dressings changed from a suspected spider bite when i was working in Namibia, nasty things, a quick story for bedtime ............

Whilst we were in Namibia, ... one morning I was laying in bed waiting too get up for the day, as I was laid there a spider decended from the ceiling on its thread, I laid still watching it as it came down not a foot off my pillow, it went past the bedline by about 2" and stopped, it came back up the thread to eyeball me, ( breakfast maybe's ?? ) what did I do ????? froze on the spot, then sent it flying with a backhander before slapping it to death with my boot.

Spiders.... you can kep them :disturbd: :disturbd:

Steve H
15-06-2005, 02:03
It was a spider with wings :S or an impersonator...was a right weird effort :(

Dead now, was pretty funny

It came back into the room - and started buzzing around the light, switched the light off and back on and it kinda actually hit the light, next second it fell on the floor but was still buzzing.

So being the human guy I am, I smashed it with a shoe, and flushed it down the loo. I can sleep now :)

I did a Google for moths. Is the winged terror on here at all:

http://www.ukleps.co.uk/

Lovely pic of the six-spot Burnet. There's a field near my parent's that is full of them. The caterpillars feed on a plant I've forgotten the name of :dozey: Amazing colours - the pink of the spots is strange to see in something natural.

I don't mind moths too much - the big ones are a bit scary and the little brown ones that munch clothes are bloody annoying (my house is full of them).

My guess would be a May Bug. I was terrified by one at the age of eight, the memory stays firmly with me. No creature from a horror film could be more gruesome.

Flying Spider: This mutant creature was first discovered in Undermountain but has spread to other areas under the care of the dark elves. It looks like a normal spider with a body about the size of a human hand, except it has a pair of translucent gossamer wings that allow it to fly clumsily at about the speed of a dwarf's walk. These flying spiders are as poisonous as their landbound cousins and appear to be originally of hunting spider stock, for they are adept at jumping into the air to catch prey and use webs only to secure captured food in their lairs. The existence of these creatures has started rumors about a degenerate crossbreed between avariel (the rare winged surface elves) and the drow. These auvathyrri (as self-proclaimed scholars have named them) are reputed to have scraggly birdlike wings or black insect wings and keep flying spiders in preference to all other pets. That nobody has ever seen such an elf only lends power to the rumor that they exist and that they slay any who encounter them.

ick....

I have this book, it's called 'Man eating bugs' link (http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/ASIN/1580080227/qid=1118839409/sr=8-1/ref=sr_8_xs_ap_i1_xgl/026-5933653-4284451) and it's basically about eating insects and so on.

They have a bit in there about spiders - at one point the author is in some country and he buys a bag of live tarantulas from a market stall with the idea being to cook them and eat them (it's what they're sold for) - anyway he gets them in this plastic bag which he ties up and leaves in the empty bath of his hotel room. He wakes up in the night to find the bag empty - and spends the rest of the night hunting around the room trying to find the spiders - but the trouble is he's not really got too much of an idea how many were in the bag to start off with.

The other bit worth mentioning, is a tribe called 'Sejal' - (which strangely enough is my wife's name) - and they eat these giant spider they find in the jungle, and basically what they do is find them, and then stun them by hitting them with the handle of their machette - which gives you an idea of their size - and then they throw them on the fire and cook them - apparently their so big that they actually have white meat inside them... but apparently they're very tasty

Real picture, inaccurate description apparently...

Although the creatures shown in the photograph above appear to be far too big for camel spiders, they look misleadingly large because of their closeness to the camera, which creates an illusion of exaggerated size. (Note their size in comparison to the uniform sleeve which appears in upper right-hand portion of the picture.)

Talking of crane flies, anyone remember a cartoon film about a kid in a car crash who gets taken to another planet, and some people on a spaceship are trying to find him and it turns out their crazy old pilot/guide is actually the boy grown into an old man, and crane fly like things attacked the boy so the old man had a metal plate in the top of his head?

Flying ant

Ants build up a nest in spring. When it becomes its maximum size the nest erupts with flying ants attempting to fly, mate and create a new nest. The actual swarms only persist for 2-3 hours. They will normally swarm at a window as they are heading towards a light source.

There's no need to be scared of these things. As long as you have a bug spray or/and a hoover with a hose, you're fine.

Hoovers with hoses are best for the ones that move too quick to catch 'em with swatting or spray.

Plug the hoover in, but turn it off at the socket. Turn the switch on the hoover to on. Position the end of the hose as near to the beastie as you can get without it flying away, and then get someone to turn the socket on.

Woosh, the beastie gets sucked into the hoover. Leave it on a few minutes to make sure the bugger dies. :)

my cat eats spiders! i was brushing my teeth the other day and she suddenly pounced on my foot looked down and she had just stopped the worlds biggest spider (well it may as well have been i'm terrified of them and was nearly sick!) from crawling on my foot she then pounced again and looked up at me and all i could see where these huge legs out of either side of her mouth wriggling, it would have been hilarious if she didn't start walking towards me at which point i ran off screaming, only to go into the bathroom later that day to find absolute carnage! shredded spider everywhere! maybe my cat's name does suit her after all! (shredder)!
