1 meg but showing 2.3 meg [Archive]

On a tiscali adsl connection I am getting 1 meg (what its supposed to be) but showing 2.3 meg on the connection icon. I used the Robin Walker simple speed test. Any ideas about why this higher speed is showing?

Connection icon?
Do you mean in the system tray?
If so, I wouldn't pay any attention to that.

yeah - that's what I mean - the little computer icon down by the clock and win xp desktop. How come it's not accurate then?

Your ADSL line is connected to the exchange at 2,272kbps but throttled down at Tiscali towers to the level you are paying for.

Its the same on my parents PC, the icon shows 2 meg but they only get 1meg.
