I'm afraid I haven't been to a gig in about three years. I used to go loads in my student days (far gone alas), but recently it's just not been happening. The most recent gigs worth remembering were 16 Horsepower, Calexico, and Sonic Youth

the original Fleetwood Mac with Peter Green
Ian Dury & the Blockheads
The Stones
Pink Floyd
Elvis Costello
Rod Stewart
Thin Lizzy
Led Zeppelin
Nazareth
Tear Gas
The Stranglers
Taste
Jefferson Airplane
Roxy Music - Phil Manzanera & Eno an all.

Ah, thank god...

The things that stand out are:

Sonic Youth (4 times...)
Einstuerzende Neubauten (3 times)
16 Horsepower
The Ramones
Nick Cave
The Pixies
The Jesus and Mary Chain (stands out mostly for being utterly uninspired and uninterested)
The Cure
Jeffrey Lee Pierce

For those who care to remember and are morbidly inclined, there was:

Swans
Laibach
Scraping Foetus off the Wheel
Wiseblood
Lydia Lunch
Christean Death
Front 242

I was not impressed by
The Mission
Fields of the Nephilim

Looking over this list, I'm so happy I've mellowed...

These days I mostly listen to lofi singer/songwriter stuff. (Anything that is authentically sad ;))

Sipowicz
20-09-2003, 23:50
Thin Lizzy
Squeeze
UB40
The Police
AWB
Inner Circle
Julian Lennon (!!??)
Bruce Willis & the Accelerators (??!! the wife took me - honest!!)

and one you would not have heard of - No Dice saw them loads of times in the 80's

Yeah, I like My morning Jacket. (The song 'I will be there when you die' is brilliant, especially the bathroom acoustics). I'll check out the others.

I actually saw the Pixies twice, but one gig was cut short after three songs for security reasons

Edit: If you like 'sadcore', check out Timesbold (one word).

We went to Thompsons, and then left there at 3am to go and Queue outside Virgin. We were one of the last few to get tickets there.

Homealone - you went to see the FLC's on their new album tour as well?

Saw them in Cambridge last Monday, and they ROCKED! Were the support act The Lovegods?

yup - the Crims were brilliant - so many styles of music & such a big sound for only a 3 piece. I wasn't sure about The Lovegods, but they were very enthusiastic & went down well with the audience. - did you get the guy who came on with a ghetto blaster & did a "karaoke" act, as well? He was really funny:)

Sensei Katana

Oooh yes, we got the guy with the ghettoblaster - what was funny about it was that I saw them for the first time down at Brixton Academy in Nov. 2001. First of all he was playing outside to the guys in the queue.

Then, after the support act he came on again! And yes, he got hustled off by security then as well... :D
