i recently bought a new laptop and want to network it to my PC. I had my old laptop working fine using a ethernet cable.

ive plugged the ethernet cable into my new laptop and ran network wizard but still no luck.

it says in the taskbar in the bottom right corner limited connectivity.

thanks for any help

Your just networking using a cross over cable?
Have you allowed acces in your firewalls??

by the sounds of it, you need to set the IP address on each of them :)

open a dos prompt and type ipconfig, what ip address is getting assigned to the network card?

what do you mean by network card, ive done the ipconfig and it comes up with:

internet conection

ip address
subnet mask
default gateway

laptop connection

ip address
subnet mask
default gateway

should any of these numbers match up?
