I was told that I should sit at my computer properly.

Anyway I was looking at this :-

Heck at 32 quid its not as if its the end of the world if it dosent.

I think you would probably be able to take it back also if it didnt go right so you could try it out for a few days.

They are suprisingly comfortable, although you may mind yourself developing extra muscles in you buttocks as your backside attempts to cling on to the seat.
What I mean is , it OK if your sitting dead still at a desk but if moving about reaching for this and that, I found the balence wrong (since you're already tipped forward) and tended to fall off the sides.
Plus depending on the floor of your office, it'll damage the toes of your shoes

Anyway why are you asking us - that the point of the argos 16 day money back scheme, isn't it

I got the very same chair from Argos, about a year ago. I don't have any back problems so can't say how good it'll be for you, but I found it way more comfortable than an ordinary chair.

Certainly recommended. :)

Thanks for all your replies..

I may not be getting it from argos - but that was just an example to show what I mean.

Good idea/point about the 16day thing tho :)

Well I've got a leather chair that I bought in computer world at the moment - I must be doing something wrong tho. My back has been getting really bad over the last couple of weeks :(Make sure that your bum and low back are pressed back into the backrest as far as they can go....and then wedge them back a bit more. I can't really explain this, I need to demonstrate it. But while I was looking for a good explanation I found this (http://www.constipationadvice.co.uk/acheiving-inner-health/practical-tips.html) :D

The backrest should be tilted back at about 10-15 degrees. Some say that the seat should slope forwards as well.......I personally find that uncomfortable. All this only works if you have the seat hight adjusted so that you have your feet comfortably flat on the floor. Once the seat height is correct then you need to look at the desk height :D ....if thats too high/low then you are setting yourself up for more problems. The desk height is correct when your forearms are flat on the desk and your sitting position is correct (as already described) :disturbd:

I think the main problem is that I've not been moving the chair (and therefore myself) closer to the desk if you see what I mean.

I usually end up leaning over the keyboard instead of moving closer.

Mind you there's not a lot I can do about the desk hight.

And the chair doesn't fit under the desk (because of the non removable arms)

Anyway I'll have a think about it tomorrow.

Hopefully I can sort it out with this chair as I do like it.

After 5 operations on my back after an accident down the mines I use a lumber roll, you can get these at any sports shops, just place it in the middle of your chair and it keeps you at the right posture. I also invested in a inversion table a few years ago, it was one of the best £199 I've ever spent.

one of these (http://www.argos.co.uk/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?storeId=10001&langId=-1&catalogId=3151&productId=131037&clickfrom=name)

lmao, only you would suggest that!!

In addition, its also a good idea to try to get your chair under the desk while you sit at it as not to require you to stretch your arms out. But most important of all is not to sit for long periods of time. Stand up every 30 mins and stretch, keep your back flexible and this will help you a lot

Some chairs have adjustable arm rests as well.

Unfortunately the only way to adjust the arm rests on my chair would be with a saw ;):D

You definetly need to get the chair closer to the desk so that you don't end up slouching forwards.

Sounds like time for a new chair.

I'm going to try and raise the desk by a few inches today - the chair will go under it then.

I'm looking for something to put under the desk at the moment.

Once again - thanks for all the help people :)

Could always pop to the local timber merchant for a strip of wood to put under the desk legs?

I guess some people just have really good memorys.

p.s. I've got my desk on bricks now so I can get my chair under it. It doesn't look very good - but my dad is going to do me some wood to replace them at the weekend.

Since you've got a trekkie avatar, I vaguely remember an episode of ST-TNG that revolved around a new Captain's Chair - which Picard eventually decided he didn't want & went back to the old one - presumably the replacement's mouldering away somewhere in props - next time Enterprise is around maybe they could beam it down for you ....;)
