new dashboard fails to download every time. I have ntl broadband via a set-top box with my xbox connected to a linksys router. I've never had any problems connecting to live before.

Is anyone else having problems ?

I think a few people have been having problems, connecting the xbox directly ive heard allows you to get it.

Just tried it, but because my ntl connection is expecting the mac address of my pc, which i have cloned onto my router it does not let the xbox connect to the network.

Has anyone any ideas ?

clone the mac address of uour pc onto your xbox ;)

Or set up the router's own Mac address as a new 'PC' and run the network with no cloning. That works for me and is much tidier when I want to add machines to the network (e.g. bringing home my work's laptop). Ideally it's what every router owner should aim to do.
