I am having similar problems. I noticed this afternoon my IP address keeps changing.
Having great trouble reaching many sites and downloading my mail from Yahoo. Extremely slow.
Tried re-booting the SACM and took about 15 minutes to lock on.

It may be the server that might be down, or try unplugging the modem and re/plugging it okies!!!

Well I cant connect to a message board, and i have not been banned as i can requsest my username and password, I think the proxies are passing the wrong information outwards - been like this all day and its very annoying!

It seems the Proxys Have gone down, suddenly today sites were either slow or down, MSN, Skype, News etc all work fine - which points to the Proxy. Downloading a file was coming in 2-3KB/sec -- not bad eh...

Took for 30 mins to get this page up and tried a whole range of proxies but never seem to make any difference. Also tried rebooting modem etc

i had to put another proxy in to get any net whatsoever, but my online gaming is off limits, pings out of control and way too laggy.

Same here, ping timeouts, spasticated pings then fine, browsing dodginess, not solved by changing proxies. DNS seems totally screwed, ips on my tracerts are not resolving to the hostnames, seems as if ntl has reached meltdown.

Yeah, same problems here in Scunny (hi again Mauldor :waving: )

Very similar problems to the last time it went mammaries skyward (oversubscribed UBR I think they said it was ??)

I have a week off work now .... and would definately like to bury myself in some online gaming, so hope it all gets sorted soon :(

edit .... can't be as bad as last time ... all this post done in one session :D :D

I'm in Mansfield and can't get webpages, DNS is timing out and download speeds(via ftp) are rubbish.

I think proxies can be ruled out because DNS requests and FTP dowloads shouldn't touch them, i'v also tried a non ntl proxy with no effect on the speed at all.

Well mine was fine until about 8pm at a rough guess, I had just uploaded some files to NTL Web space and was trying them out (pictures) for Links to another web site when it was failing. Now normally if its the proxy, a swift proxy change normlally soon get rid of that. Having tried a load of proxies, it made no difference whatsoever. Next test then, Skype and MSN, I said previous post it was fine but its random now, brekaing up convo, loosing call and so forth.

Gaming was out of the question, I managed to get on a server then 5 mins later lagged and was disconnected. Now we have had 6 times before in Scunthorpe where there was a problem, quite similar to this one - I am wondering if this is a local problem (like before) or a nation wide one maybe??

Can anyone tell me how much it costs to phone support as I was told it was 75p a min? Is that right?? if it is, then no way Am I calling them..

Phew! Thought it was just me that was having problems :) I tried calling "Tech Support", which was a waste of time ~ they don't work Sundays it would seem, or after 8 for that matter. Whose bright idea was that?

Anyway, add Lincolnshire\Nottinghamshire to the list will you.

there is no need for tech support on the weekends or after 8pm as the internet never stops working in them times .

Setting my proxy to an NTL one in Southampton cleared up my browsing problems so now I'm just going to turn everything off and hope it clears up by tomorrow night.

Just done half a dozen speed tests :Yikes:

D/L speed (when it doesn't time out lol) is about half it should be ... not that it's a problem 'cos that's still double the speed I origionaly paid for on 512 ;)

the real worry is the massive ping times and packet losses ... sometimes up to 38% packet loss .. can't play online with those figures :dozey:

Nope! The 'sotn' proxy setting didn't help me! I usually use one of the Leeds proxies as there are infinitely better than the p*ss poor Nottingham caches, but even the Leeds ones are acting up now: time outs, slow loading, constantly doing page refreshes, cut and pasting this reply cos it didn't post the first time due to a time out :/ etc!

Still, it wouldn't be NTL without some sort of problem would it?

Yes, I use AdSubtract which has a proxy tab and has a separate box for the port setting (which is set at 8080), I just have to put the actual proxy address in!

I keep getting 'connection reset by peer' messages, and if I use the default notts proxy (god forbid) I get 'bad request' no route to host! In fact I've never used the notts proxy as in the 4 or more years I've had BB they have never been reliable for me!
