I've had this problem before, but could only solve it by doing a format and fresh install of Win XP - but now its started again
I can download at full speed (1MB=100 kB/s) via BitTorrent
But
HTTP downloads and robin Walker speed tests say 400 kbits/sec

and before you ask - yes I have closed down all torrent activity before running the tests
pulling my hair out here - I don't want to have to do another format - too much stuff to back up

any sensible suggestions welcome

Craig

your max dl should be nearer 125kB/s for a 1 meg line.

change to ethernet if you're connecting via usb, check for viruses/spyware. sorry i cant be more help, i'm sure someone will come up with more suggestions soon

Have you seen this thread Link (http://www.cableforum.co.uk/board/showpost.php?p=421404&postcount=1) its a Microsoft tool to remove about 17 viruses at least.

it could possibly be a proxy issue if your bittorent is downloading at full speed

try an alternative proxy because it might only be affecting browsing

It seems to be an issue with my PC somewhere
because the other PC on the network can get full speed http downloads
