Steve Vai certainly rates as one of the world's best guitarists.... anyone see his guitar playing in Crossroads? (not the TV show, and not the cr4p with britney spears)
Awesome.

What about Jimmy Page? (Led Zep) :afire:

EDIT: Number 9, should be number 1 - Hendrix is fairly good but he's not that good.

yes he was, also helped Mark Knofler(Dire Straits) refine his technique, but Hank is still not on the list.

For sheer influence and energy it has to be Hendrix for me.

What, no Bert Weedon.:D

Also think Jan Ackerman ( not sure of spelling ) from FOCUS was brilliant. Better than 75% of that list. IMHO.

Err, nope, Ralph Macchio (sp?) was the puppet!

Hmm, having been reminded of it, I'm going to have to dig out the video and watch it again now!

Hmmmm talking of Jimi Hendrix, he deserves to be number one, his under rated album entitled "blues" is absolutely spiffing indeed...... he really showed his talent on this album....

Technically my favourite is Steve Vai, but I'd rather listen to Hendrix or Jimi Page. Dave Gilmour is also amazing in the way that he can make his guitar say anything with just a handful of notes.
If anybody is interested, I'm a guitarist from Birmingham UK who has just recorded a instrumental guitar solo album. You can listen to samples at my website iamalamebannedspammer.com
I hope you enjoy.
Oh yes ............ I think Steve Morse is also pretty amazing.
