Does anyone on here watch japanese animation or animÃÃâ€*’©? (The normal name for japanese animation)

I dont mean ones like pokÃÃâ€*’©mon lol.

My fave feature length anime has to be metropolis, based on the slient movie. It really has to be seen to belive..:)

Also i like Neon Genesis and the Macross plus OVA.

Any one else got any faves?:wavey:

My roommate is a Dragonball Z nut. I prefer Disney cartoons... Gotta love Tailspin and Quack Pack. :D heh...

Seriously, anime just has no appeal for me. And hentai is just wrong on so many levels...

My favourite is Kagaku Ninja Tai Gatchaman (AKA G-Force/Battle of the Planets), with Patlabor coming a close second.

I assume you mean the original version, before the BBC re-cut it as a children's programme (after which it made precious little sense to anyone, so I'm told).

There was an Anime Society at university but I was never really interested enough to get involved. The only anime I've watched to any degree is, sadly, the BBC version of Battle of the Planets....

Guyver - BioBooster Armour...

Although the live action movies they made are good too... (Mutronics : The movie and Guyver - Dark Hero)

The BBC had nothing to do with the edits. It was edited by Sandy Frank Entertainment in the US to remove the violent parts in order to appease ACT (Action for Children's Television) who were strongly opposed to violent images on kids' TV in the 70s ;)

But yes, I do mean the original Japanese version complete with swearing and violence :D

I stand corrected ... didn't the big baddie in the ott suit turn out to be a woman or something in the original?

And is it right that the irritating sequences with that underwater robot were only inserted to make the programme back up to 30 minutes after all the gore had been cut?

He was a hermaphroditic mutant with the ability to take on either male or female form. Here (http://homepage.ntlworld.com/lwernham/Katse/Katse0001.jpg) is a sketch of how (s)he looks unmasked.

Yes. You can use the length of the 7-Zark-7 scenes to determine how much original footage was cut from each episode. Also, about 20 episodes were never translated, including the final episodes which were some of the best. Loads of info about all the versions can be found here (http://www.totalimagespecialists.com/Gatchaman/).
