I am currently signed up to NTL Broadband 300K however when I check the speed of this connection it says that it is only running at 100K. Has anyone else got this problem because this isn't what I expected to get!

Where did you get that figure from? If 100 is what your PC is displaying, that means 100Mbit (which is 100,000kbps) - and is the speed of the connection between your PC and your Cable Modem/STB.

Try this test and post the result here.

And :welcome: to the site

It will look like this
Mon, 14 Feb 2005 17:21:18 UTC
1st 128K took 703 ms = 186447 Bytes/sec = approx 1551 kbits/sec
2nd 128K took 719 ms = 182298 Bytes/sec = approx 1517 kbits/sec
3rd 128K took 765 ms = 171336 Bytes/sec = approx 1426 kbits/sec
4th 128K took 657 ms = 199501 Bytes/sec = approx 1660 kbits/sec

It's from the network connections from my computer. It says that the speed is 100.0Mbps.Does this speed equate to 300K?

Thanks Bill C. Here are the results from the test:

Mon, 14 Feb 2005 17:23:23 UTC
1st 128K took 3816 ms = 34348 Bytes/sec = approx 286 kbits/sec
2nd 128K took 3615 ms = 36258 Bytes/sec = approx 302 kbits/sec
3rd 128K took 3505 ms = 37396 Bytes/sec = approx 311 kbits/sec
4th 128K took 3916 ms = 33471 Bytes/sec = approx 278 kbits/sec

Does this seem right?

the 100mbps is the speed of the connection from your pc to the connection on your modem. The 300kb is the speed of the connection from your modem onto the internet and is the speed of your downstream.
