a study from bath university has found that workaholics are the happiest in the workplace....

it seems workaholics gain satisfaction by putting in long hours

oh and the 'british are lazy' too :p

Possibly implies that most British arn't happy in their jobs and are therefore not happy to go that extra mile for it. If you are happy doing a job and/or well paid for it you will put in all sorts of hours.

I am a workaholic, and work at a uni (not Bath though). Go figure...

I didn't think the link between earning more & putting in more hours was that clear in the article. It seemed to imply that "workaholics" would eventually benefit from promotion etc, but not directly.

I agree with Ramrod that enjoying a job makes a huge difference & being paid well, also helps:)

But, how many companies expect their employees to put in extra hours, for no extra money? Or "time in lieu"? (which is never convenient to take!). Within reason this is fair enough, but it can be abused.

I'm not sure about the bit about "careerists", either, my cynical mind sees that as the people with the most BS rising to the top - damn it's already happened!:p:D
