Hi,
I keep getting disconnections for about 30secs - 1 minute most evenings recently and its really messing me about trying to play games online, so I thought I'd check my traffic levels using robin walkers docsdiag proggy. it came back with no modems found.
My first question is this normal now? It used to work fine.

In checking the answer to my question I did a tracert to get my first hop ip (UBR) and got this...

Tracing route to clarity.jolt.co.uk [195.149.21.11]
over a maximum of 30 hops:

1 11 ms 12 ms 14 ms 10.134.15.254
2 11 ms 17 ms 14 ms 10.134.15.254
3 13 ms 12 ms 10 ms colc-t2cam1-b-v103.inet.ntl.com

I shouldn't be getting the same ip twice for my ubr should i?
oh and during my loss of connections I cant get a reply from my ubr.

thanks in advance

1 11 ms 12 ms 14 ms 10.134.15.254
2 11 ms 17 ms 14 ms 10.134.15.254
3 13 ms 12 ms 10 ms colc-t2cam1-b-v103.inet.ntl.com

seems odd havent seen a tracert like this before...

i wouldnt have thought it would cause these 30 second disconnections though to be honest

never done a tracert with a motorola cable modem before though, anyone wanna give it a go see if they get similar results?

Stuart W : the 3100 doesn't have USB.

And the tracert used to be normal ie didn't have 1st hop twice

well it is unusual but it should not cause your connection to drop intermittently aless you are finding that this hop only exists when the connection drops

if it is there all the time i cant see it causing a problem

nope when the connection drops I have NO connection at all - can't ping first hop. very annoying only seems to happen during peak hours too..
