View Full Version : Video recorder set-up
Apologies for being thick but...
I'm unable to record anything from Cable - scart lead connects set-top box to the TV and scart lead connects video (has only one scart socket) to set-top box, but nothing happens, no playback basically.
Please can anyone help me as I just don't know what is wrong and ntl have told me there is a £50 fee to call someone out??

Welcome Monkey!
If your Video has only one Scart socket it is most likely a Scart out only (Video to TV). In otherwords, you cannot record via it. The only way you would be able to record from the cable STB would be via the RF lead (RF: Wall to STB, STB to Video, Video to TV).
Thanks.... but still no joy! I can get playback now but just records fuzz. Do you mean just connect using RF leads?
Try this (ignore what you don't need)

Ah ha, nice one!!! Huge thanks to the both of you for the helping hand, after a bit of fine tuning everything is now working perfectly... bliss!

I have just bought a Sharp 32" LCD with built in Freeview and want to connect up the Video recorder for occasional use. There isn't an RF out on the TV and connecting the arial to the Video then the TV degrades the signal and I lose digital channels.
I've tried tuning the Video using the single scart instead of the aerial but it doesn't pick up any channels.
Would a splitter with a booster do the job or is there something else I could try?
Thanks for any help - Allan.
