okie dokie. so i have a DV camcorder with DV out only. i have a firewire enabled pc and want to play with my home movies :D. now i know how to transfer them to PC thats a doddle. but i want to record them to tape afterwards for everyone to enjoy...
anyway my graphics card doesnt have Tv out. (old GF2MX). would the simplest thing to do be spend £40 on a card that does have tv-out? or are there any other options that people have come across in the past?
ive seen adverts about these "dv-in" enablers for camcorders but im skeptical about anything that claims to rewrite firmware...
especially with a £500 camcorder...
Hi Dave,
I don't know myself but lots of help available here (http://www.dvdrhelp.com)
good luck

UK based forum these guys know it all :tu:
I would suggest that you get the camcorder enabled for dv in asap , but you might have trouble getting a dongle or software now as most of the manufactuers have sent out cease and desist letters to the trade over this issue .
most camcorders are imported and taxed as a VCR if they are enabled for dv in/out
what cam u got ?
"must rush my subjects await" :)

Ok Dave I see where ur coming from regarding updating cam firmware, I did my panny some time ago really was a doddle to do
I've had a check thru my bookmarks ,and because of the legal implications firms now cannot supply firmware or dongle's for sale to joe public
but all is not lost you can still get your cam converted legally by using a professional service like this http://www.smartdv.co.uk/dvinjvc&thompson.htm
about the same cost as the software/dongle that were the rage 6 months ago
Then all your :D Spileberg editing then can be put back onto a dv tape (archived) with no quality loss that would be evident by placing it onto VHS tape (back to the stone age) ;) thru rgb or tv out , this defeats the money spent on the dv cam imho ;)
got a burner/dvd player ? have u thought about putting your movies it onto Vcd or Svcd current encoding software is very good nowadays and cheap
Enougth banter for now
