Yup looks ridiculous to me, should have in amount due £74.97 as your payment received equals previous balance and current charges.

Might be wrong!

What's the point of both a "Previous Balance", and a "Balance Bought Forward" - surely they are the same thing ?

and yes, the maths on that statement makes no sense.

Ah ha, you've never had the delights of explaining billing

The only thing I can think of is that the payments of £49.98 didn't clear so that would add the balance back onto the sum outstanding which is £24.99 brought forward and £24.99 for the next bill

Does that make sense :erm:

Would it help if the payments received were applied as a credit, rather than a debit?

Offshore software obviously

With weights tied to its feet, perhaps?

Actually, the new billing system is entirely home-grown.

Entirely???
Sure most of the design/srchitecture is done in the uk (mostly by contractors!) and supported by Microsoft in the US, but from business analysis onwards its starts to move offshore.
Wipro http://www.wipro.com/ have people based in Group IT at Hook doing the detailed analysis and wireframes that then get set offshore. Its been that way since before BroadBand + was outsourced http://www.wipro.com/newsroom/newsitem/newstory307.htm
Next versions of har-moan-y will almost entirely be coded offshore.
QA is done back in the UK :dozey:
Another Indian outsource company www.satyam.com also looked after ntlââ‚Âà ‚¬ÃƒÂ¢Ã¢â‚¬Å¾Ã‚¢s Inktomi caches didnââ‚ ¬Ã¢â€žÂ¢t they bbking? http://www.satyam.com/mediaroom/pr4oct02.html do they look after the NetApps?

Ahh, so maybe not so entirely "home-grown" after all then :D

I'm always willing to be corrected, of course, when people are better informed than me. I'd honestly never heard of Harmony being written offshore, despite being fairly closely involved (as an internal customer) and working on numerous projects that interface with it recently. All the people who talk with us are British-based (although we're fully aware that the contractors in Hook aren't ntl staff, but brought in, and are doing most of it), the Ops staff are in Wales (which you'd think would be an obvious outsourcing) and the servers and associated admins are in the UK too.

Sure most of the design/srchitecture is done in the uk (mostly by contractors!)

Those'll be the ones we meet and see around Hook then. Hundreds of them. Not just design, either, here's a CV for one, who is evidently not Indian based but was doing some fairly hard-core coding.

It's possible that it's gone offshore since then, of course, to keep running costs down.
