Anyone get a good look at Mars last night? I had a look through my mate's telescope and you could just make out it's polar ice-caps. It looked about the same size as the spinning globe on the top right corner of Internet Explorer, it was aweaome.

Is it close enough to see with binocs? I have no scope available.

Yes, even a very weak pair of lenses will bring it nicely into view at the moment. Look southeast at about 10pm. Even if you don't have any lenses at all, the view with the naked eye is spectacular at the moment.

I'm getting my old telescope out of the loft as soon as we have a clear night ... :)

I've just been outside and there it was, low in the sky in the south-east, just above the tree tops. It was that bright that I thought that it was a plane at first. A definite orangey-reddish colour.

We had a look for Mars tonight & all we could see was dark clouds. I think it's visable for the next month so maybe one night we'll be lucky All the street lights round here don't help though
