Lag during Gaming

Hi, I have been suffering the lag demon lately while playing on-line games ( I play a mod for Q3 called Urban Terrror) It doesn't occour all the time, with some nights being worse than others. I haven't done anything about it, just putting it down to the servers I connect to (Mainly Dutch). Until today that is when I tried to use Winamp to listen to on-line radio. I am getting the same problems, intermitent interrupions of the stream.
How can I test this?, I have used NeoTrace Pro, but that just gives you a one of ping, is there any software out there to test for lag (Lattency)?

have you tried running dan elwell's (http://www.broadbandspeedtest.net/) speedtest to see what that shows up ???? :)

It does show packet loss, but not consistantly. I have run the test a few times.

Is there any test I can do to see if its "noise" on the HFC network ar a problem with ntl's routers etc??
