I have about 40 odd advent calanders as this is what my missus and I were doing in our spare time as home work. Choccy ones - dog biscuit ones - cat boscuit ones... We also did a large number of christmas card holders.

I better not state the company name.

I'd never have an Advent calender, they're certainly against my beliefs.

I think you'll find that I have a square bob and sponge pants, so there :p:

Back on topic, Mts Nug insists on getting me a chocolate one every year but then nicks all of the sweets  . In fairness, I'm not actually that bothered 'cos I think advent calenders are rubbish, but it's the principle!

nope, dont have one. i've reached the level of cynicism where its cheaper to get chocolate bars than pay for nasty fake chocolate :)

I saw some really pretty traditional ones last month. However at £6 a calender I thought it was a bit steep to justify buying to use with the tutor group I'm covering at the moment.

Otherwise we are not bothering anymore.I have a Christmas tree one I made for the kids when they were little. Each of the 'presents' is a pocket big enough for a choccy or a small toy.

My children are now too old and sophisticated(or is that cynical?) to want to bother. :)

No, we get a sample to show us how it's done. We don't have to give the sample back, so we've done 40 odd different sorts :)

Er, I know that it's not the done thing to criticise anyone's spelling, but so far I've counted 6 calenders and not a single correct calendar. Oh course, if you are all talking about a machine that smooths cloth, then I stand humbly corrected. :)

Theodoric

Yes, but value for money wise, they're sort of like Easter eggs, a lot of image and very little chocolate.

Another thing about Advent is that it ends that run of totally boring names for Sundays. You'd have all sorts of interesting names, then you'd come to the First Sunday after Trinity, then the Second Sunday after Trinity, then the Third. IIRC, it goes on until you reach the Twenty sixth Sunday after Trinity, then you finally reach Advent and a blessed change of name!
