Pointless technobabble on PC World web site

So my friend decided he wanted a laptop. He does not know much about computers so I suggested I would have a gander around at the big names to see what deals are out there...

I headed over to Evesham at

and it all seems pretty straightforward.....CPU, RAM, HARD DRIVE etc all pretty standard stuff...

then I went over to the PC World web site

..on the list of laptops page they give for the specs CPU, FSB & Cache. Apart from CPU absolutely pointless info for the average punter that would be shopping down at PC world...
It looks to me that they just want to baffle newbies with big sounding numbers and fancy specs..

Maybe Im wrong......what do you think?

The amazing thing is that it you can pretty much guarantee that PC World staff will also have absolutely no idea what any of it means either.

I think that you'll find that generally in stores selling computers they want to sell you what they have in stock not what you want to buy.

I know in places like Dixons they usually highlight a few "selling points" but fall short of giving you a full and detailed specification, which would really tell you what you were getting for your money.They never seem to have any leaflets to take away and read so you can compare products and buy what is best for you.

Simplest answer I found was to make up your desired specification and get it custom built.

- you'd be right - would you need water cooled memory to run that FSB ;)

Unless it's an Athlon 64 Mobile, which would probably run at 800 x 2 (1600) FSB.
