View Full Version : Want to check upgrade date for my sister's internet in Hertford.

Hi guys,

whats the url for the page to check when they are upgrading the local area, I moved house from Cuffley to Hertford yesterday and NTL came and fitted the 512k internet for my sister to use (I will be getting 2mbit ADSL in a week or so)

How easy is it to get the broadband changed from 512k to 1mbit? is it just a speed upgrade NTL do at their end or does a local engineer have to come out and tweak the box outside the new house?

I ask the last question cause I thought Hertford was already upgraded so my sister could make do with 750k but she actually wants 1mbit.... thanks in advance :)

Don't know about the speed upgrade, but, if it's a SACM, you should be able to upgrade via the ntl web site. STB's you have to phone up, but no visit requred, unless it is a PACE STB, in which case it will have to be replaced by a nice shiny new Samsung.

nah its the ntl:home grey cable modem, not an STB :)

Never tried it (I'm on STB), but I think it's instantaneous. You may need to reboot the modem.

512k does not exist on ntl :confused:

my mistake, she must have the 750k connection then.... I dunno, I havent done speed tests yet, I guess it must be at 750k.

Sorted last night, his modem just needed a quick remote kicking + 1.5Mbit took over :)
More to the point it's working really well so he tells me, fast as you like, and a nice change from before! :tu:

Well, all this time on and I'm still loving NTL's service, cannot fault it anymore, nice to know NTL arent as bad as I thought, I just hope others that were in the same position as me get theirs sorted :)
