Any of you play it?

I play over at www.pokerroom.com with play money (basically like playing with money that isnt yours and isnt worth anything) and wondered if there were enough of you to have some sort of cableforum poker showdown ;)

And nobody can kick over the virtual tables and start a shootout either. :D

If you interested you need to sign up (its free - i dont get anything for it - and its not my site :D ) but its worth while if you want to practice you 1337 poker 5killz :p:

I only play Hold'em though - just a preference i have.

So anyone up for it some time?

I hardly know the rules, but it's strangely enticing watching it on the tele

Edit: Ikthius: Do you realise this thread is almost a year old?

It was bumped by a spammer whose post has been removed.

no I did not it was a bit early in the morning,

I would love to have a game of CF poker though, this sounds fun.

But just signing into it suggests a rather lot of info about me is going to the company, like my drivers licence number or the passport number, is this safe anyway?

ik

EDIT: I am not too sure about this poker room, is there no other kind of poker where you don't play for any money? all I see is payment in poker room, or am I not looking in the right areas?

Like what Ik said - I enjoy a game every now and again - but there appears to be no "free play" option...

PartyPoker has a free play option - you are required to give minimal info to create an account too. The only downside is that you have to install their client to play the games (understandable I guess, to stop any cheating...although sadly that does go on in the Paid For games :( )I've been playing a fair amount on PartyPoker, and I only do the free stuff.

I'd suggest trying PartyPoker - give me a shout if you get stuck with it.

I use something called the UK Betting Casion. It is a virtual casino where you can download all sorts of things, and play for real or just for fun with fake money. I think it's from UK Betting PLC, and can find a link if you want?

The issue is that this requires downloads - most of these only have windows clients, and I dont run windows ;)

The OP suggestion does allow you to play for free online, with no downloads - I registered using a Gmail account to see, and there is a definate free option.

i play holdem at a couple of sites. The only trouble with the play money sites is that you get people in there that play like idiots

I have to dual-boot cause of my missus being a Luddite, but any any site that doesn't require a client install would get the :tu: from me as I can use my linux install. I'll check it out tonight if I can :)

To be honest, mate, I only started learning how to play it this summer. I then started watching it a bit on telly, and slowly got my head around it. It's a surprisingly easy game to get the hang of (ie, the rules of the game itself are simple) but I figure that it takes a long time to master ;) With playing online, however, you can virtually teach yourself without looking a pratt in front of others

Texas Hold 'Em UPDATE for Xbox LiVE

Tomorrow’s arcade action will consist of the long awaited update for Texas Hold 'em. Below is the list of some of the new features and changes in the free update. You will be prompted for the update when you play the game after 0800 GMT (check what time that is for you) on Wednesday (11/29.) This update incorporates much of the feedback that we have heard from the community over the past couple of months. In addition to the update, the leaderboards will also be reset so everyone can start fresh. Also, early next year the team is adding Vision camera support. Here is the official list of features and fixes:

Game-play has been sped up.
Post the blind and play right away! – Players can now, if they wish, start playing immediately when joining a table by posting the big blind, rather than having to wait for the blind to come to them.
New ‘Away’ mode – Players can now set their status to ‘Away’. Hands will be auto-folded and blinds auto-posted until the player returns.
New ‘Auto-boot’ mode – Players who continuously let the timer expire (more than three times in a game) will be booted from the table
Faster overall pacing – Timers and messaging durations have been adjusted to speed up game-play among experienced players, but still allow novice players plenty of time to play.
Improved blind structure – Initial blinds, as well as blind increases, are now more proportional to table stakes, ensuring more meaningful increases during game-play.
Matchmaking improvements – Players are no longer matched into games they cannot afford
Improved interface controls – Improvements to controls, such as increasing/decreasing stake amounts
Leaderboard display – A player’s full winnings and rank are now properly displayed
Art and text improvements – Game art and spelling issues have been addressed
Online exploits addressed – Certain known exploits that enabled cheating have been addressed. As a result, the online multi-player leaderboards will be reset to eliminate inflated scores as a result of these exploits.
