I'm not talking about phobias or anything, but in life what do you fear the most? Death? Failure?

failing at everything, i have pretty much done that, so it creates hesitancy when i try and do something.

I suppose death, because it is final. If you fail at something, you always have another chance to make amends, if not at that thing, but something else. But death is final. There is nothing you can do after the fact.

I don;t so much as fear death per se (we all gotta go sometime) but for me I fear a horrible painful death. Like being burnt alive or something.

Me too....
And me. Sometimes I feel like I want to wrap him up in an impenetrable shield so nothing and no-one can get anywhere near him. The sheer range and depth of feelings that come with having a child are staggering ...

Me too....

If I hadn't already experienced it I may have chosen this as my first (most) fear....

Which is why I chose the coffin thing, as I've not (and don't plan to I must admit ) experience it.

Am i the only person who wouldn't tell a soul what my greatest fear was?

I have enough chinks in my armour without handing someone a weapon as well :)

But then again...... i'm not sure i have a greatest fear........ or maybe i'm just in denial.

I guess that some people are just more comfortable discussing it that others....

I wouldn't like to say what my greatest fear is because some would not possibly believe it, and would probably think I am just using it as an excuse to cause trouble here.

Fear of death is not that great for me, at 38 I consider that I have done most of what I want. I am not frightened of much at all in fact, or should I really make a quote here.

not sure who said it originally but Cus D'mato I heard it from.

"The coward and the hero both have the same fear, the hero just knows how to control it"

Waking up inside a coffin underground...

I watched this on mythbusters a few weeks ago when they simulated this to see if it could happen or not. The good news is, its not possible to wake up as you would have been crushed by the volume of soil.

Well I'd find that reassuring if it wasn't for the fact that the few exhumations that I've seen usually have the coffin intact.

I guess it depends how strong the coffin is.

Anyway this is the main reason why I plan to get cremated.

Of course there's the death by the embalming fluid before you even reach teh coffin, and if that's skipped, then there's suffocation from the small quantity of air long before you get taken to the ground.

My greatest fear would be to be killed by the inane stupidity of any offspring I might have!
