Hey guys!

I have a question...

Does NTL have a d/u ratio in place? and if so .. why?

Its quite annoying if you're playing a game, and your sister starts sending files over msn or some sh** =[

Cya,

What do you mean by ratio? download with respect to upload?

If so it is not ntl, it is the nature of tcp/ip- uploading reduces the download speed.

Your connection is asymetric.
300/64
750/128
1500/256
Perhaps you need to look at being able to throttle her use of the upstream, there is software that can do this. Perhaps you need to upgrade the connection (not sure what your connection is).

as to a u/d ratio as seen on some ftp sites, there is no u/d ratio

Your data eventually gets to a fat fibre backbone, but the cable from your house to the backbone is not so fat. What package are you on?

We may have fat fibre backbones (very fat, in fact), but your cable modem is connected via two RF channels, one up and one down, which are modulated differently, contended in different ways and of different widths.

All of which means that your upstream is narrower than your downstream. Nature of the technology - ADSL is the same, but for different reasons.
