over the past week or so i have been experiancing some slowdown on browsing, its also been affecting downloads to servers and peer to peer programs.

doing a docsdiag on my terayon has shown ethernet collisions from data packets.

System up time = 1 days 19h 40m 37.42s
Ethernet alignment errors.1 = 1
Ethernet FCS errors.1 = 2
Ethernet single-collision errs.1 = 71874
Ethernet multiple-collision errs.1 = 88804
Ethernet carrier sense xmit errs.1 = 143
Ethernet frame too long recv errs.1 = 1
Downstream channel ID = 0
Downstream channel frequency = 402750000 Hz
Downstream received signal power = -5.3 dBmV
Upstream channel ID = 4
Upstream channel frequency = 33584000 Hz
QoS max upstream bandwidth = 256000 bps
QoS max downstream bandwidth = 1536000 bps
SigQu: Signal to Noise Ratio = 31.9 dB
Cable modem status = Operational
Upstream transmit signal power = 53.0 dBmV
Date and Time = 2004-10-08,13:57:06.0+00:00
Configuration filename = tera210x-gold.cm

how could i avoid these ?

That's quite a few collisions shouldn't be that critical though. The carrier sense issues aren't too hot either.

Suggest that you try forcing your network card to full duplex, see if the modem follows suit and acquires properly, see how that runs.

Got another ethernet cable you could try as well dude?

Or even another network card :)

hi ignition :) as soon as i can i will try those things you mentioned, the ethernet card is onboard, im used to having little or no collisions at all usally, and only a handful of retransmissions.
