View Full Version : The perils of home swapping

I have just been reading a BBC article (http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/magazine/3141921.stm) about people swapping homes for a holiday. This has brought back a very faint memory about a TV drama series (or programme) of a few years ago where someone did a home swap that then (unsurprisingly - it would have been a very short programme otherwise) led to dire consequences.

Can anyone put me out of my misery by remembering what it was?

I tried to swop my wife once. Got a bottle of vodka, thought that was fair.

That's the one! Not that I can remember its name or when it was transmitted.

A bottle of vodka. That's what I call entering into the spirit of things. :)

I doubt anyone would want to swap for my house, I wonder if the wife would be interested in being swapped? lol

Sounds like it. But only last year? I thought it was much longer ago. Must be something to do with time passing faster as you get older.

But all is not what it seems - when they return home they find their home has been sold and the contents stripped bare. Tom, whose relationship with Jen is heading for divorce, discovers that she has been having an affair with the (fake) Australian and the house swap/sale was her endeavour to get a fair settlement in the divorce.

Yes, that's the one. I couldn't remember the rest of the plot, so at least I do know now.
