Switched my cable modem this evening (29th Sept) at 5.00pm, has just connected at 10.00pm after 5 hours and endless reboots.

Anybody know of any maintenance etc going on in leicester, have checked the server staus page and also called their hotline, but neither mention leicester.

My cable modem reports the following:

Hi,

From the power levels quoted especially the Upstream of 59dbmv (recomended max is 58) then this would indicate a return path problem.

Signal to noise ideally should be above 30 but not necessary and even more Receive Power is a little off as well.

I would suggest a call to faults to request and engineer is your best bet.

SNR of 29.9 is perfectly acceptable

power level loks low and upsteam looks too high...

give tech support a call to arrange an engineer.... 0845 650 0121 they are open for another 18 minutes ;)

Thanks MB,

I switched off before I read your reply and I'm at work now. I wasn't aware that tech support were open until midnight?

Well tried ring broadband technical support twice today, got stuck in a queue for 30 mins both times, so gave up.

Switched the cable modem on tonight at 5.00pm and it didn't connect till 9.45pm

Here is what the cable modem is saying this time:

Type : Ambit ETH/USB Combo Cable Modem
Cable modem : Ambit Cable Modem
MAC address : XXXXXXXXXXX
IP address : 10.146.XXX.XXX
Downstream Receive Power Level : -10.24 dBmv
Downstream SNR : 32.19 dB
Upstream Transmit Power Level : 59.00 dBmv

My connection was fine up until about a week ago and then I have had nothing but problems. What could cause this sort of issue?
