Just what I need another psychotic computer..... and it has holographic memory so an ordinary reformat wouldn't work ;)

Still I hear it plays a good game of chess, but you wouldn't want to go to sleep anywhere near it - or leave it in charge of the front door :)

Myth.

HAL stands for Heuristically programmed Algorithmic Computer.

Clarke debunked this one when he wrote "The Lost Worlds of 2001" but it's still popping up every now and again.

I could equally point out that if you shift "VMS" by one letter you get W(indows) NT... :rolleyes:
