ello i just got at my student house and it seems that we've had 300kbit broadband installed by mistake (instead of 750) and I was wondering if the ntl 200 boxes have a web interface like on the 120? i know the address for the 120 is just http://192.168.100.1 but i havent managed to find the one on this newer box :monkey:

i hope someone can help :)

I think all of the ambits use the same IP, the one you just pasted, check you havent got a proxy manually set, or maybe your firewall might be killing it.

well my firewall is a freebsd machine, and i checked the rules and cant see anything that would block this traffic.. it doesnt even work when i plug the cable modem direct into my computer

cheers for that sir :)

it seems that i'm definitely on the 300kbit service although when we rung up i asked for 750k and the sales rep confirmed this and the price, if i changed using this automated cgi script its going to take 30 days :( but if i phone up will they be able to do it sooner? since i did ask for 750 in the first place and for 2 days i assumed that it was the speed i was getting lol :dunce:

thanks for your help anyway jimbo :tu:

Dim problem. ;)

You can upgrade via that page - which used to be immediate, although they may have changed things - or telephone customer services on 0800 052 2000. This should also be immediate, but it depends... Whatever you do, don't let them put you through to technical support! We can't upgrade you!

There is a firmware issue with the 200 modems, with some you have to reboot the modem to get access to the config page.

Also, if you have a proxy server specified, you either need to disable this, or select "bypass proxy" for 192.168.100.1

I have noticed with the 200 that the web interface doesn't always work. If the connection is not being used then it usually will (else a reboot will fix it) but when you start downloading or uploading it will usually fail to respond... Just FYI.

I just set an IP of 192.168.100.2, reboot and it lets me in with root/root.

Yeah I need to change my network cards IP to 192.168.100.2 and the login with root password root, and it works then.
