Well question here, my girlfriend would like to have her own connection in the home and not be linked to my 1.5mb she would like the 700k connection.

Is it possible to have ntl wire a 2nd broadband installation into the house? to same room also?? cups of tea provided for techician and installer who comes :D

Thanks all in advance :D

I think the basic answer is that as long as it in a differnt name to your account, there won't be a problem.

I'll move this to the 'Billing & Installation' forum. ;)

yes it is possible, but as Neil said- the accounts must be in different names.

Depending on the location of the second modem, the present cabling will either be split, or a new cable input will be installed.

Thats way more expensive than the router option though. How often do you max out your BW?

Yeah I was going to say, you could just link your PC's by ethernet and then using software you can allocate different PC's different net speeds.
BUT you would be using only one connection.
If you are really wanting to keep your 1.5 then yeah she will need to get herself her own new connection.

Her pc dont have ethernet plus the NIC card in my pc is having issues, so I'm using USB which has been my old faithful as for maxing BW err daily lol

Also would just be easiest option i think because then i dont have to get her old pc and work on it to make it able to run on a home network.

Get an Ethernet router and two Ethernet to USB connectors!

How about this (http://www.currys.co.uk/martprd/store/cur_page.jsp?BV_SessionID=@@@@1109578823.109449311 3@@@@&BV_EngineID=cccfadcmhegiiilcflgceggdhhmdfif.0&page=Product&sku=874356&category_oid=-21422&fm=null&sm=null&tm=null)
Turn your power sockets into a network
No additional cables required
Fast and reliable
Speeds upto 14Mbps
Secure 56 Bit encryption
Easy setup
Share music, photos, videos and more!
Share your Internet connection
Share your printer and / or scanner

I just saw it at Currys, I don't know how this works exactly, (or how well it works), but it sounds like it could do the trick.

Why not just get a router as has already been said. A second BB connection whilst possible is a frivolity (is that a word?) and more expensive than a 90-quid one-off 54g wireless router.

I think his point is that he maxes out the 1GB limit every day, he doesnt want to share his 1.5MBit with his other half so he want to get her her own totally separate connection so she too has a 1GB limit and her downloading doesnt affect his speeds.
