Something like a 2001 Focus 1.6 Zetec? Unsure if you can get one of them for 4k, more like 5k.

What sort of size are you after?

iain_herts

well it was worth a thought :erm: :D :D :D

i reckon buying from a main dealer will not be the best idea , have a look at a reputable secondhand car place , recomendation is the thing to look for ;) , have a look at this (http://www.parkers.co.uk/pricing/used_car/valuation.aspx?deriv=15041&plate=59&pay=false&buyorsell=buy) and you should see the reason why i said stay away from the main dealers ;) :D :D :D

Consider a Peugeot Deisel. Will save you in servicing costs and fuel and probably will mean cheaper insurance to the performance too.

The Peugeot 106 1500cc diesel is not one of their best engines, they have a tendency to crack cylinder heads. breakers yards find heads from these engines are in huge demand.

what world are you living in? pump costs at the local:

petrol 81.9
diesel 82.9
lpg 38.9

hehe saving on diesel? not at the pump anyway ;)

yeah ok diesel cost more but you get more miles out of a tank of diesel than u do petro plus if i did get a diesel car i dont pay for it i know some1 who can get it for free. my mum has a vauxhall astra diesel 1.7 and she can get like 500 miles out of 1 tank

well then it should be white , mind you it aint g'teed to be , i would be careful , getting caught with red in your tank is going to be painful ;) , and even if you have a tank of white they can tell you have been using red :disturbd: :disturbd: :disturbd:

One of the guys I worked with used domestic central heating fuel, it's exactly the same as diesel but doesn't contain the added heavy oil ingredient. If you used it neat it would wreck the engine because it lacks the necessary lubricant, he used to measure the viscosity with a viscosity cup of normal diesel and then keep adding normal engine oil to heating fuel and measure the viscosity until they were the same. He could then work out the amount of engine oil required for x amount of central heating fuel. He said he had to do this for each delivery of fuel because grades varied so much, he was running with it for a couple of years and clocked up over 30K without any adverse affects. (the car had done over 130K by the time he got rid of it) He lives in a rural are and stopped the process when the authorities started dipping tanks in his area to check for farmers using it in their cars. He says its undetectable but was afraid to take the risk. He now has a modern diesel and is a bit more worried about the injectors and engin management.

He has done some wierd and wonderfull things and is a very clever guy, he once tapped his inlet manifold and regulated LPG in to see if it worked, and he said it was a success. He said the downside was carrying the Propane bottle on the back seat of his fiat 126 was dangerous and a bit of a pain.

Yes, don't get one - renound for blowing head gaskets, leaky hoods etc etc etc. If you want a little sporty number, try an Mazda MX5, far superior to the MGF. :)
