Hi. Now I am new to all this tech stuff so need you guys to help me. I have asked NTL to change my preset cable modem spped up from the 1.00 gb speed to the new 1.15 speed. Now they said this is done automatically and they couldnt tell me how I can tell or see how or if it had been done.
Now if I go to the 2 little icons by my clock to show I am conected that shows me there a speed of 100.0Mbps
So can anyone tell me how I can check what speed I am presently using if thats possible.
Thats it so I hope someone can help me..Cheers...

open this page: http://homepage.ntlworld.com/robin.d.h.walker/speedtest.html

if it reports in the region of 1500 kbits/s you're upgraded

hi and :welcome: to the site , forget the 100mpbs , it isnt relevant , use the speed test above for a simple check , try this (http://www.broadbandspeedtest.net/) for a more comprehensive test :)

You're not on 1 gig, 1.5 gig or 100mbps, it's either 1 or 1.5 megabit, as mentioned do the speed test.

Right I did what you all said do and on the first test you gave me I got these results....

Tue, 24 Aug 2004 15:06:19 UTC
1st 128K took 711 ms = 184349 Bytes/sec = approx 1534 kbits/sec
2nd 128K took 721 ms = 181792 Bytes/sec = approx 1513 kbits/sec
3rd 128K took 701 ms = 186979 Bytes/sec = approx 1556 kbits/sec
4th 128K took 711 ms = 184349 Bytes/sec = approx 1534 kbits/sec
So am I on the 1.5 an not the 1.0 going by this test then?
Fianlly I has one question. When I go to my internet options and click on conection there is the tab saying Lan Settings. In there it says Automatic Configeration and it has a tick in the box for Automatically Detect Settings. Should I have this checked or should it be unchecked.
Right thats it so once again thanks again for all the help. Its apreciated as I rely on my pc and its use due to being disabled so it is a great way for me to keep in toach using Mirc or the net and so on. All the best guys and speak soon...

If your connection is working don't change any settings... and those results are exactly as I said before.. so yes you are on 1.5mbits/s

It should be unchecked.
