Urgent Help Needed [Archive]

Hi

Tomorrow im moving into a new house and NTL are coming to install Digital TV and Broadband.Now the problem is i bought a computer from the person living at the house and it already has NTL broadband installed on it.The bloke has left the computer but has took the little modem box away to his new house.What should i do.I hope this post makes sense and i hope someone can help pretty fast.His connection is with a LAN if thats any help.Thanks in advance.

When NTL turn up they'll have a modem for you that's assigned to your account. If the computer is all setup for broadband, either USB or Ethernet, then you should be able to just connect it to the new modem and you're away. There's nothing on the computer that links it to a particular modem, nor is there anything on the modem that links it to a particular computer. The modem is linked to your house - or more specifically, your account with NTL which has the address to which the modem is linked.
