Hey Guys

Following my last post regarding staff benefits......

Imagine my dis-belief when the powers that be, took away free vend and made coffee 15p per cup in the office.

Is this the case at all locations ?

Cheers

Derek

It's 15p in Maxwell Road, Glasgow

Alternatively you can get a cup of half decent stuff in the canteen for 50p.

They did this in Matrix Court last year too :(

Yeah, 15p for a cup of icky luke-warm stuff, and a massive 60p for something drinkable from the canteen!

Apparently the idea of charging for the coffee from the machines was a result of "associate feedback", although I have to wonder which "associate" had that bright idea. Presumably someone who never works late and doesn't need the caffeine.

Well when I worked at Wythenswhae ntl it was 16p a cup before the fire. After the fire they made it free vend.

15p in Winnersh, 80p in the canteen. Bromley's 15p too. Both taste like mud dissolved in battery acid.

Its like a health kick here in Leeds.....

All on the water till they find some way of charging for that.

As soon as the toilets get chargable I'm outta here.

If memory serves, when I was at Hook and they started charging for tea/coffee the managers chipped in and supplied us teabags, coffee, milk and sugar

If I remember, the posting on the group intranet gave details that if they charged for the drinks, they could save enough money to keep 240 jobs during planing for growth. Personally I don't drink the stuff

Suggestion - a thermos flask containing fresh ground fresh filtered coffee...

I thought they used it to create an extra 240 managers jobs instead.;)

I heard recently that some bright technician/engineer in my old franchise said "we can't get all the equipment on our estate cars to do customer visits as well as network duties"

The kind manager then said OK, you will all lose your cars and get vans! I heard the person who brought it up is not very popular with the other tech's atm.

Thats the last thing they need, one of their own giving extra help in shafting them.

What do you suggest as a reasonable amount to charge for tea/coffee ?
15p seems reasonable, at least until you try it. I pay 50p for a teabag cup, sugar and milk in the canteen rather than buying it from the vending machines.

How is this not NTL bashing? The coffee is awful.

That's scathing criticism, that is.

Because the canteens and machines are not run by ntl? I would have thought given your location you would have known this ?

So is the ntl coffee tasteless and in need of a few sweeteners to make it palatable? ;) :D

hey, i LIKE that vending machine coffee :D only 2problems with it - 15p IS abit steep for 2 mouthfuls of coffee, and the state of the machines at matrix court....

you got 4 coffee machines in the main vending area - and each has its own quirk that strikes occassionally - half a cup of coffee, luke warm coffee, no sugar and the last sometimes leaves out the actual coffee bit.... throw in the fact that all of them sometimes forget to provide a cup to pour it into, and you have a cheap lottery every time you go for a drink ;)

I don't think anyone will object to 15p for tea/coffee/some kind of knocked-together substance which passes for either, but what I think gets to people is when it was previously free, as it was in Matrix Court.

Imagine the uproar if we banged up the price's by the same precentage as our coffee ha !

(well thats if you call tasteless, plastic excuse for a warm beverage, coffee)

The vimto was always welcome though on a warm day.

Oh and Jules, what you charging for Coffee after the toilet breaks ?

Jules
