I've done 2/3's and managed £240ish ...It takes a long time to go through the change machine at the supermarket and it keeps giving you sarcastic comments such as "My we have a lot of change" - And it annoys people waiting behind you!

Youve either got a bottle, are broke, and want to know if you can go to the pub tonight

or

It's gonna be a competition for the nearest guess

If the latter dont tell him. If the former start counting :spin:

Eureka!

Find out how much water £1 displaces.
Divide 3L into that and you've got your maxium number (remembering that £1 is solid so there will be gaps)

Just get a measuring jug and a glass, fill the glass to the top with water, bung it in the jug, drop in 10 coins.
Take the glass out and see how much water is in the jug, then divide by 10.

Course that's assuming all your £1 coins are not fakes...
