New To Board, Please Help

Hello, I'm new to the forum and I hope somebody here will have the time to please help me out.

Ever since I got my new PC I've wanted to connect the PS2 through it but never been able to figure it out. I have onboard LAN and have tried connect the ethernet ( I use USB for the PC-Cable Modem ) but it doesn't seem to be as simple as that.
I know it's not the best way to connect but I don't have a router right now and would rather try and use what I've got.
Can somebody explain to me how to get my PC to share the internet connection with the PS2?
