Can I play region one DVD's on my PS2? Are there any reasons why this may not work?

TIA :dunce: :)

Try one of the these, not all at once.

Press & Hold the Circle, Right and L1 keys. (or)

Boot into PS2 browser without a CD in the tray
Insert the Region 1 DVD you want to play
Press Circle and R1 on the DVD
Hold Right until menu appears
Press Circle and R1 again (or)

Load the DVD into the PlayStation 2
At the browser screen, select the CD icon then press and hold square and then circle until the DVD menu appears, holding both buttons all the time.
Then there are two ways to play the movie; you can either select the play icon or the movie start icon which is in the middle to the far left. If one doesn't work the other one will.

edit: If they don't work, try getting hold of DVD Region X, it's a CD you put in before the DVD and should allow you to play it.

He's best off buying an Action Replay or Region X CD off of Ebay, as those hacks I've listed only work with the very first PS2 model afaik.

Because it was free..... ;)

No need to worry anyway. The reason I wondered was because the first half of the 6th series of SATC has been released in the US, but it's not due for release until the end of october here. I've found some patience, placed a back order for the whole series on region two with play dot com - my ps2 will play region two won't it?

Yes it will. :)

Although the picture quality is (IMO) noticeably inferior to that of even a cheap DVD player from Woolies/Asda etc.
