View Full Version : Computer reboots
Hi, had a call from a friend who's PC reboots everytime he goes to open IE. I think its netsky, but would appreciate any input before I go around on Tuesday night
When are these people going to learn, and install anti-virus software!!
Thanks in-advance
What OS is he running & what version of IE? Any other adverse problems with the system?

is it just when he opens i.e. ?????????? , or does it happen any other time ?????????? :)
Dont know which OS, can't get hold of him. It only happens when he opens IE, which is set up to connect via dial-up as it opens. A little box pops up that states "you have 59 secs to reboot"

i wonder if he has a firewall as well :)
Sounds like MSBlast, must be XP or 2k.
You need to get the blast fix from the M$ website, burn it to CD, and get him to run it when he's disconnected to the net. I presume he's got Dial up then?

Disable the Messenger service in the mean time this will stop reboots.
This has nothing to do with Windows or MSN messenger.
Go Start -> Run then type services.msc - look for messenger and disable it.
If it starts to shutdown - goto Start -> run and type shutdown -a
