View Full Version : Euro 2004 = Propaganda?

Do you think it's possible that the Euro football championships are nothing but propaganda from the EU, to make people think that the Anglo-Franco-German domination of the EU is over?

Think about it, some very small countries are winning. The most populous countries in Europe are out of the championship already. A bit fishy.

This could be to stop these smaller countries being intimidated by the larger ones - they might start to have faith in Europe.

You saw that swiss referee the other night. That was undoubtedly a goal - the linesman accepted it.

why do you think this is propaganda from the EU? After all not all european countries are in the EU. I also wouldnt class Greece as being a small country

Well, these countries may be persuaded to join, knowing that a major power in the EU has been defeated.

Population of Greece: 10,647,529 (July 2004 est.)

Nothing compared to Germany, France and England.

Well it makes you think, all the major players have played absolutely poo and all the usual no hoper's are winning.

Mild humiliation? No no no, that's when the thread continues for another 20 pages of ridicule, mickey taking and other members pulling your post apart and analysing it ;)
The truth is that many of the nations involved in the tournament have been struggling to find decent form for quite some time now, the smaller nations are now taking their chances to show what they can do.
The ref was dire in our last match but let's face facts, our performance in the tournament was terrible.
Looks like 2004 will be the year of the smaller nations, maybe that will be the kick in the arse that our national games requires to move forward and improve.

I like this thread - it has no point to make, and is already proving popular. My prediction is it will grow to be huge in time, with loads of respondents variously siding with their stated preferences, and it will ultimately become the be all and end all deciding thread of the whole forum.

So far the contributors have mostly stated yes or no - I am undecided whether to vote maybe or possibly, I think I will sit on the fence and see if any cliques develop.

Yes, and perhaps someone will one day write a book about it. It will then become a University degree subject, with some bearded chin-stroker writing a thesis about the 7 stages of such forum topics.....and the Nobel peace prize will then be a matter of days away....

HAH! It would have been WE if THEY had WON!!!!!!

Possibly this site's truest words ever spoken :D

Well it makes you think, all the major players have played absolutely poo and all the usual no hoper's are winning.

Exactly.

There have already been some incredible lengths the EU has taken to sway voters in a possible referendum.

And Beckham's performances have been appalling for someone who is seen as a Shinto Deity in Japan.

Given promises of high media exposure, money, etc, I think some players could have chosen themselves over their country.

Beckham's penalty on Thursday was unbelievably bad.

Well Greece are in the semi-finals managed by a German, while England are out, managed by a Swede, beaten by a team managed by a Brazilian. Perhaps it's a German plot to subtly re-fight the 30 Years War, assisted by an ex-Nazi Illuminati based in Rio de Janeiro. Or it could be a football tournament where teamwork is proving better than individual skill, like in all other football tournaments.

i just think the better teams are winning, and its nothing to do with the EU....:D i don't think even they could pull off the masterstroke of rigging an entire football tournament.....the day that happens i will be wearing my tinfoil helmet and metal coat hangers, you can be assured of that :)

england, spain, france, italy, germany all got knocked out because they are/were a crock of s**t... bring on the czech republic! *but that's for another thread.....*

...i can direct you to another forum if you *really* want government conspiracy theories and the like (...about everything that exists, practically)
