Click here for the article about sonys 98% drop in profits (http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/business/3092063.stm)

That is one huge drop for such a huge company thats a lot of yen!

There is also this article on theSlowing sales of the PS2 (http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/technology/3092795.stm)

What do you all think??

Is the ps2 slowly dying - will the psx revive these sales?

There's no surpise PS2 sales was gonna get hit considering they've pretty much saturated the market.

The real issue is how much they spend in r&d and never see a plausible business case for a consumer to purchase their products. I mean look at AIBO, how many people have one of those?

Though their electronics are good, if you can't something that's .5% less reliable but save half the price what's the point? This coming from someone who has VAIO laptop and loves it.

They can still drop the price of the PS2 to push up sales if they want too though ;)

Very true, but there's a point of diminishing returns (although I think Sony's learned to manufacturer the console in cheaper countries).

M$ is able to absorb the losses, but Sony, judging by their restructuring statements, can't afford more losses.
