View Full Version : NTL IP's
Just got my internet connection back. Now I had a feeling it would be an IP issue because I noticed yesterday while checking the IP address was due to expire. Now why dont they just renew them. I never had this problem on 600 service. Its only happen while being on this 1MB service which I started this month.
Also the new IP even though it was obtained today says its due to expire on the 24th :erm:
24th ? - you mean you get them for a week ? - that's more than normal - I believe in most areas the lease is only for 24 hours.

Like I said before I upgraded to 1MB I never had a problem with IP's and disconnections like this ?
The IP lease period does not vary by service level - so something else must be causing your problem - do you get your BB via a SACM or STB ? - I'm pretty sure their have been multiple mentions of 1mb via STB being problematic.
Yep stb
If you want me to get involved send me a pm m8 and i will have a look at it for you. Will need some contact details.

I just wanted to try the 1MB out before the price increase and upto now I dont think its worth the extra

Are you running a software firewall, and if so, is it blocking the DHCP renewals?

This is gonna make it out like I'm thick, but how do you check when your IP address is due to expire?

You're not thick, m8 :)
Try...
Win 9x/ME: Start>Run> then type "winipcfg" (no quotes) & hit return
Win XP: Open a Command Prompt, & type "ipconfig" (no quotes) & hit return
-or- Double-click on your Network Connection (Start>Settings>Network Connections>your connection), select the "Support" tab, & click on "Details".
It should tell you your IP address, & when the DHCP lease is due to expire.
I find you get more info using ipconfig /all

Did you loose connection yesterday ?
I switch it off when I'm not using it, like when I'm at work, or asleep!
SO 21:24 was about right for when I switched it on last night.
