Paul, I had a message saying a windows update needed doing when I got in from work so I started it about 8'ish

It's showing now 75% is this a HUGE file or does my laptop/modem need a kick up the proverbial ??

Needs a kick, the update is not that big and only took me a couple of mins to download and install.

End the update and re-start windows update or use the link above to go for the file.

Thank god for that! 2000 doesn't need to be patched *phew*
I've had enough of installing MS04-011 and MS04-012 to last me a lifetime!

If u use WindowsUpdate to receive patches does it just check that the Windows u r running is a legal copy or does it check all MS software on ur PC?

Just windows as far as I know, you can go into the updates catalogue and download them individually if you are worried though ;) Office software is updated by an update scanner on a different area of the microsoft site
and just for you Juan
http://office.microsoft.com/OfficeUpdate/default.aspx is the update engine for ms office :)
