Any idea why I can't get to some sites?

Some are OK, some just timeout, sites such as
- www.inglebybarwick.com (http://www.inglebybarwick.com/)
- www.yarm.net (http://www.yarm.net/)
- www.clearchaos.net (http://www.clearchaos.net/)

Won't work, whereas sites like this one are fine. I can see all the sites above by using my VPN connection to work.

Strange. It's happened before but as yet I have no idea why. It seems to last for a couple of days and then resolve!

Fine here on ADSL, it sounds like the old story of the ntl proxies playing up *sigh*

Take a look here: http://homepage.ntlworld.com/robin.d.h.walker/cmtips/trancache.html#iew for info on how to join in the amazing 'proxy jumping' game.

:welcome: to the site btw. :)

It could be a proxy issue as Neil says.

Also, can you tracert to the sites in question? I was thinking it might be a hosts file problem.

Hi, Im in Middlesbrough and cannot connect to Hotmail via Outlook Express or www.thewrestlingchannel.tv.

It is starting to annoy me now as I have been unable to check my Hotmail (5 accounts) for the past 3 days (Web portal does not load either).

What is the "Best" or most reliable Proxy to use ?

Thanks guys

Matthew

EDIT : cache1-cdif.server.ntli.net Works fine. NTL need to sort there act out, I mean, I know what I am doing changing proxys, but I bet 80% of "normal" users have no clue and are stuck thinking there connection is broke. :(

I'm in Stockton, and I can't get to:

www.hotmail.com
www.dvdpricecheck.co.uk

Just about to try the proxy you suggest Matthew... fingers crossed.

Yea, same here, about 10% of sites I have bookmarked are dead.
Luckely I have a few contacts all over the country, so I just chage to one of there working proxys if needed (Not that I should hve to though !! )

I can't even get to this site without manually specifying a proxy :(

It's a big problem for me in the Teesside area as I run a couple of local community web sites, most users (judging by hits) are with NTL. As the sites aren't aimed at technical people, I suspect most of my users just think my sites are dead.

 Grrr.....

Just one question to everyone in this thread that is having problems-how many of you actually rung ntl & informed them of your problems???

NTL Stockton are not concerned, you must ring the tech support, and have you tryed ringing tech support latley? Not only does it cost, but you are on hold for up to an hour and then get the standard "We`ll inform the apropriate department" response.
