Is anyone else having this problem?

Everything was fine until the 7th April, now Outlooks hangs on my primary account at the part where it clears emails from the server.

I keep getting the same emails over and over again on top of 100's of spam emails I usually get sent on a daily basis.
Even when I managed to download them all again, I start getting emails from the 7th all over again.
I was under the impression the email server problem was fixed

Can anyone please help ?

:welcome: to the site!

this problem is usually caused by an email in your inbox that outlook is refusing to download for some reason, it may be being rejected by any AV software that you have, or maybe be over the limit of mailbox size.

The easiest solution is to logon to webmail (http://webmail.ntlworld.com or on the right hand side of www.ntlworld.com ) then delete any messages that you don't want from then inbox, and then from the trash can.

If you try send and receive after that, it should download the messages properly for you.

Can't enter webmail.ntlworld using my primary account details, but can with all of my other email addresses.
My primary account details must still be ok as I've just been able to access the add extra emails option without any problems.

Sorry but no I am having no problems recieving the spam porn and more spam on two NTL accounts in hte last week it has reached record numbers over 150 a day to say I am ****** off with it is an understatement. one email addy is the primary one NTL set up and its the one that gets most spam to mail that is for us. 1 email a month is ours the rest is spam...

Unfortunately NTL's server-server or LDAP/backend authentication does appear problematic far too many times. :(

Next time you get "stuck mail" and "no webmail" and don't want to wait for NTL to lose your inbox then you could try TELNETting into your account first to see if deleteing any "problem" emails corrects a corrupted mailbox.
Depending on your OS/version something similiar to this may be needed.
Open a cmd prompt and enter TELNET
Microsoft Windows XP [Version 5.1.2600]

C:\Documents and Settings\Plonker> telnet
---------------------------------------------
Welcome to Microsoft Telnet Client

Microsoft Telnet> set logfile c:\temp\plonkersTN.log
Log file : c:\temp\plonkersTN.log
Client logging on
Microsoft Telnet> open pop.ntlworld.com 110

+OK InterMail POP3 server ready.

------------------------------------------------

Now with judicious use of TOP, RETR and DELE cmds you can identify which emails are spam and which are legitimate and optionally RETRieve and/or DELEte as appropriate.
Further more by using TOP <msg num> 9999
you can identify (usually) any malformed/truncated multipart/multiline message that NTL has allowed in their server as the required (by RFC 1939) termination code is not correctly implemented (for TOP optional TELNET cmds)by NTL's (vendor unsupported) antique Intermail vm4.x software thus invariably causing a "connection lost" message!

Tedious but do-able, and of course "logging" is optional (and don't forget your password is recorded there in the clear!) and if you retrieve attachments then you'll need to cut n paste into an appropriate utility to convert.

Now I'll leave the possible reasons for how occasionally malformed messages exist within NTL mailboxes to the usual "expert" speculative and hilariously entertaining opinion available within these hallowed fora! ;)
But client side FW/AV/AT software and mailbox sizes are only two of several causes for stuck emails!
Of course as NTL gradually rolls out Openwaves new mailbox software perhaps things will improve?
