Hi all,

This is really aimed at a techie at NTL - as I am 99.9% sure what the problem is - but being a non-NTL person, I am unable to clear it....

My wife is getting 75% full warning messages for her Email - but there is nothing on the server. She was sent a large mail some time ago from her work Email, but it never arrived...
I believe that this mail is sat in the mailbox, but cannot be accessed...
She contacted NTL- who sent her a list of things to do that we had already done (download mail from server etc),they then said they would investigate further, but we have heard nothing... (no suprise there then ;-) )...

what I think needs doing is the clearing down of her mailbox.

On a seperate note : how do you find out how much space you are using on the mail account - as my wife uses webmail to read/cull her mail, then downloads it on a regular basis, It would be usefull to see how much space she has left..

cheers all

Zovat

Normally clearing the trash foler in webmail will resolve for you. Has this been tried?

yes - this is how she normally checks her mail...

There is no large mail listed - I am guessing that it filled the mailbox when sent, and was only partially received.

I thought so - but on checking her trash it has 300 messages in it (although she deletes about 50 spams per day - so that is not a lot)...

Just clearing them down now - and we'll see what happens.. ;)

Am I to assume that NTL (unlike all other webmail providers) do not clear down the trash on the account, and also count it in your disk space allocation :Yikes:

yeah

commom for people to overlook the webmail trash folder

web based mails like yahoo and stuff clear them out
but pop ones do not tend to do so

I think webmail is a curious mix of pop and imap

try deleting them about 50 a time
as you might find you cannot delete all at once

if you run into probs use telnet

Thats ok - It's my wifes mail - so she can delete the trash....

(I just download to my local pc and filter it... Much easier ;) )

unticking the 'leave a copy of message on server'
options a good way of clearing them out

assuming you are using OE or Outlook or similar

I dont bother deleting from webmail as find it a bit tedious
I just download the headers in outlook then delete them all (the messages)
from the server that way

Unfortunately she deletes them on webmail from work during the day, then downloads them at home in the evening...

We have deleted the trash - and we'll see whether the message goes away.. :dunce:
