Hi all,

I have searched the forum for the problem below and found no solution:

When I use outlook to download my email it has the following errors:

1. The mail doesn't download unless I remove and re-instate the account.
2. Once the account is re-instated, it does not download the mail from the server so the whole process starts again.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Daran

What settings are you putting in the account you create and what error messages do you get ?

hi Daran

the last time i had a problem like that, it was a 'stuck' email, I found that logging into webmail & deleting the obvious spam/virus messages, freed up the inbox for that account:)

I have had the "same" problem for a few weeks now. I have to leave Outlook on a forced "send & receive" to get any mail. It gets to 85% and hangs, telling me (today) it is downloading 1 of 287 and that it will take 6 hours!!! I had someone send me some work home, they tried 2 e-mail addy's. 1 was bounced by the server and the other got through!

I don't use webmail, but I logged in to try the "fix" listed above; webmail says that there is nothing in my "inbox" ! I am now confused. Any of you good souls got any words of hope and encouragement?

Has anyone checked the Server Status page?

ntlworld Email service (RESOLVED)

27 March 2004 10:12

ntl internet customers on all packages may currently be unable to access some or all of their incoming email accounts, or may find that unread email and mail saved in webmail has temporarily disappeared.

This is due to a problem with one of our email servers.

Our engineers are aware and are working towards a resolution as soon as possible.

Please accept our apologies for any inconvenience this may cause.

This has now been resolved

If it has been resolved, as they state, why do I have the message: receiving 19 out of 287, time remaining 9 hours? I think they are referring to yesterdays problem, they may not know about todays!

(tongue firmly resting in cheek!)

Because when it comes to ntl, & their daily/weekly bout of email troubles-there is no such thing as 'resolved'. ;)

It's not just me then!

what you should do really
is run a telnet session

Start > Run > Command > Telnet

Open pop.ntlworld.com 110
username: *******
pass: *********

List

you will see what's in there for definate then

my guess is its probably some issue with being overloaded

delete 'em all one by one if neccessary
dele 1 etc

I sorted someone's out the other day
> 320 of them - most of them massive spam mails

Thanks for that! I'll give it a go in a while.

Has anyone checked the Server Status page?

They are lying. My emails from 20th March 'temporarily' disappeared and have still not returned. I am waiting for a reply to my letter of complaint.
