In an effort to compete with the Avril Lavigne thread..... (sorry Kronas, but I like Kate better)

Rumour has is that Kate Bush is to release a new album in the Autumn/Winter of 2003. She has been absent for 8 years, and in that time had a child, and has been working on the new album.

Who would buy the new album unheard, who would listen first, and who would just drool over the publicity photos ? :D

Someone asked me recently whatever happened to Kate Bush and its true she is recording another album. I spotted her Wuthering Heights video while channel hopping. She always fascinated me when I was younger she had the peircing eyes I always thought.

I had almost forgotten about her, a prime " bit of tottie " :naughty: in her time.
Checked her out here (http://homepage.eircom.net/~twoms/katenews.htm) and it seems she has been a busy beaver ( or is that bush ):naughty:

Anyhoo, bring her on, that's all i can say :) ( memory's )..lol

Well, I'm suprised I haven't been jumped all over yet. She must get more respect than Avril as noones slammed her as yet.

From my point of view she has been one of the most influencial female singer/songwriters of the last 20 yrs. There aren't many who can even come close.

Sorry but Avril, good as she might be at the moment, doesn't even come close.

Kate Bush = Well respected singer/songwriter of many years experience
Avril Levigne = Manufactured pseudo-grunge with about as much sticking power as a Post It note

I like the stuff Avril has released, but I doubt that the second/third album will be as good.

She has written from the heart, which is good, but needs to expand her creativity to other areas to stick around.

Kate on the other hand, well, her contibution over the last 25 years speaks for itself.

I don't have a problem with the earlier material, that's another reason I was disappointed with 'The Dreaming'. I've heard it's described as her 'mad' album, I'd have to agree. Mind you having Rolf Harris play Digiredoo (sp?) should have warned me.

I just like Kate better, my son would disagree, but I don't think he would be quite as agressive about it :D

I look forward to Avrils forthcoming release, as I look forward to Kate's. Your right in the sense that ppl gave Kate a chance, Avril has this chance. There are MANY people who do not like or appreciate Kate's contribution to Music, as there seem to be many who like bashing Avril. Some of it's jealousy, some of it is a backlash at the Music Industry of late.

Avril can/will be a good artist, she's young and has her work cut out to stay on top. Good luck to her.

But I still like Kate better :Peace:

The featured recording comes from Gabriel's Secret World Live. The female vocals were by Paula Cole (Where have all the cowboys gone).
Sinead O'Connor has performed this song in concert with Peter, but I am unaware of Kate recreating her role on this song live.

some interesting stuff on a recent avril interview........

Lavigne: I've been dying to write. When I get a day off on the road I just go to Evan's room or he would go to mine and we'd sit there and I would totally just spit out songs. And it just feels so good and we'd be so excited but we couldn't do anything about it. We couldn't go to the studio and record them. So we have a ton of songs that we've written on the road.

I haven't talked much about the songs in interviews because I like to keep that stuff kinda quiet. [If you talk about them then] they start asking you, "What's it about?" and "What's your next record gonna sound like?" And it's like, "Shh, don't go there, let me concentrate. Just let me focus." I don't want to feel pressure from media, from the public. I don't want people going, "Blah blah blah, she says this. Her next record is gonna sound like this." They'll start saying that I said it's gonna sound [a certain way] when I didn't even say what it's gonna sound like.

I had about 30 songs recorded for my first record and picked the best ones for that album. I actually never recorded any of the songs that I've written on my own. But this time around I will. And that's gonna probably be one of the most amazing feelings. I will be very proud of myself.

The [new songs are] very me and so I'm looking forward to the next record and touring off of it. I wonder how people are gonna take it. I don't think it'll be as poppy as Let Go. But it'll be more rock. And like more intimate lyrics, like more my kind of lyrics. Personal, really deep or whatever

:)

Actually I like Avril & Kate, but imo their styles are too different to be comparable - they are both good at what they each do.

"Stay With Me 'Til Dawn" (1979 !!) is correct OB. The production on some of her albums brings shivers to the spine (on a half decent hi-fi that is !! :D )

From my own point of view it is a unique voice coupled with ability that wins fans. Touring UK this month.

The lead female singer from 'Evanescence' (sp?) sounds remarkably like Judie Tzuke, but without Judie's range.

Unfortunately IMO Avril Lavagne's voice is unspectacular to say the least..(sorry Kronas  )
