new handset and micro sim query

Swmbo got me to renew her contract today as it's been on a rolling one for a while and she wanted to change packages. All went according to plan she picked a new phone and decided on the one X with micro sim.

She has now decided that she might just keep her old phone and that I can have the One X.

Questions are, If she doesn't activate the micro sim, will her existing sim just keep working as normal (hopefully after the debacle going on with micro sims) or will she "have" to activate the micro sim and get an adaptor. Also would i be right in thinking that i could just chop mine using a sim cutter and the new phone will work fine with it seeing that there's not a snowballs chance of getting one off VM?

cheers

Phil

Re: new handset and micro sim query

Cheers jb.

Just need to figure out which way to go with the Microsim now. Does it have to be activated to stop her losing service or can we just carry on using her existing sim card.

Cheers

Phil

You can get sim card converters that let micro sims go in a phone that uses a normal size sim.

Thanks for the replies.

Sim cut and working. Although I will admit to being a little nervous when I did it.

Cheers

Re: new handset and micro sim query

Looks like we'll all have to cut our sims down again if we want an iphone 5 when its available.

Re: new handset and micro sim query

there really is no need to cut the sim. whatever contract a customer has in place is reletive to the number. once you tell your network provider the serial of your new micro sim there swap the number over along with your tariff.

Re: new handset and micro sim query

I wonder if VM will be ready with a new nano sim when the new iPhone and others are launched.
